New air traffic simulator for the Academic Training Center for Air Traffic Services Personnel of the Silesian University of Technology (November 2024)
On November 12, GB Aircraft Sp. z o.o. delivered a new air traffic simulation training device to the Academic Training Center for Air Traffic Services Personnel at the Silesian University of Technology. The delivery was made under a contract won by GB Aircraft Sp. z o.o. of the tender announced by the Silesian University of Technology in April this year. The simulator, made by Norwegian company Edda Systems AS, includes modules for airport control (TWR) with 2 stations, supervised and procedural approach control (APS/APP/RAD) with 3 stations and 10 pseudopilot (PP) stations. Training of airport controllers is possible in two configurations – one allows 360-degree visualization, providing full visual observation around the airport control tower, while the other configuration is split into two separate stations, allowing visualization of 180 degrees on each. The simulator is equipped with intuitive editors for exercises, airspace and airports, and its modular design allows for easy future expansion. The device meets high-fidelity conditions (HI-FI SIM: High-Fidelity Simulator) as defined by EUROCONTROL and is a full-size replica of air traffic controller stations.
